Them: Suicide is selfish.
You: How is it selfish?
Them: Because the people who love them will have to deal with the grief.
You: People who want to kill themselves usually deal with grief just by being alive.
Them: Well its not like everyone else has it easier. We all have to deal with life, too.
You: No you don't. You could kill yourself too if you chose.
Them: That's just stupid.
You: Why is it stupid?
Them: Because you're talking about suicide like its just something people should be doing.
You: You haven't really given me a real reason yet. And suicide is much of a choice as living. However, suicide because of life situations or mental illness (e.g. depression) are a little different and should be taken more seriously to prevent.
them: But why would you want to take your life? Why would you choose to die?
You: Just be lucky you've never reached a point in your life that made you want to leave. If someone chooses death, let them choose. Nobody's forcing you to die, so don't try to force someone to stay alive and then call them selfish. The selfishness goes both ways.. But you should be more open minded. Yes, there might be people that love them. But it might not be enough. That may or may not be their fault, but its not enough to keep them alive. Not everyone can just go on living knowing that "someone probably loves them." And these people, you don't know their life, you don't know what goes on in their head. They could have been really selfless. They could have helped people more than you can imagine. But there wasn't enough on their receiving end. People need to realize that suicide is serious, and is way more than a debate over traits of selfishness. Peoples lives are on the line and you want to debate on how its selfish? How about you do something to help, or at least try to help. Maybe then you can talk about how you were selfless and showed the simple kindness of humanity.

I just had a thought.
iwannabefat: likespancakes: You know when you walk in a room and you just forget why you went in there? What if life was like a game of sims? And God just deletes the action you were about to do?
